How do I know if I am using the Logicim XLGL software or SaaS?

With Logicim offering both traditional software licensing and the new SaaS Platform Plan, it’s important to know which version you’re currently using. Here’s how you can quickly tell the difference.

Signs You’re Using the Traditional Software (Serial Number Licensing)

  1. You were given a serial number to activate XLGL.
  2. You need to manually renew your license every year (or monthly, depending on your plan).
  3. Updates are applied through manual downloads or installations.
  4. Your access is tied to a license key instead of a user account.

Signs You’re Using the SaaS Platform Plan

  1. You log in with a Logicim account (email + password) and list of plan code shows in the dropdown.
  2. Your subscription renews automatically — no need to manually extend updates.
  3. Updates and improvements appear automatically, with no downloads required.

Why This Matters

Knowing which version you’re on helps you understand:

  1. How you’ll renew (manual vs. automatic).
  2. Where your data lives (license key vs. user account).
  3. What benefits you have access to (serial number licensing vs. Platform Plan features).
