When creating XLGL report, you are not limited to using a single connection. You can connect to any number of companies to feed your report.

Connecting to Multiple Sage 50 Companies

To get started with working on multiple Sage 50 company files, follow these steps:

1. Click the XLGL ribbon tab in Excel.
2. Then, click Connect.

The connection panel will open on the left side of the window. From this connection panel, you can create and name multiple connections to different Sage 50 company files. For detailed instructions on how to create a connection to your company file, you can refer to the Setting up a connection to your Sage 50 company.

The checkbox in the connection panel indicates the default company. This default company will be used if no specific company is specified in an automatic layout or in a worksheet function. However, you have the flexibility to specify which companies to use in any part of your report.

Changing the Default Connection

With any XLGL report opened, you can switch the Default Connection and update the report for this new company.

1. Click the Connection you wish to use in the Connection Panel.
2. Click Refresh on the XLGL ribbon.

By repeating these steps, you can switch back to the original company.

Using multiple connections on an XLGL Automatic Layout

When using a Table or Free Form XLGL layout, you can specify that XLGL should use one or multiple connection when updating the report:

1. Click any cells within the automatic layout range.
2. Open the Properties panel on the right side of the window.
3. Clicking Advanced.
4. Uncheck Always use Default Connection.
5. Check the connection(s) you want to use in the list.

From that point on, when refreshing the table, XLGL will ignore the default connection and it will use the connections you specified.

Keep in mind that all connections must be open before refreshing the report.

Specifying Connections for Individual XLGL Worksheet Functions

In some cases, you may want to specify a connection for individual XLGL worksheet functions. Here's how you can do it:

1. Select the cell containing the worksheet function you wish to modify.
2. Click the fx button on the formula bar to open the Function Argument window.
3. Scroll down to the last parameter: Connections.
4. Type the name of the connection to use or link the parameter to the cell(s) containing the connection name to use.
5. Click OK.
