Restore the Sage 50 US connection after an update

Introduction

After updating to the latest Sage 50 US version, Logicim XLGL may no longer connect to your company or refresh an existing Report. This article explains how to clear and reset the Peachtree third-party access password, check the company file path, and reconnect.

These instructions apply only to Sage 50 US edition.

Symptoms

Problem: A Report that worked before the Sage 50 US update no longer downloads or refreshes company data, or an error appears when connecting.

Next step: Reset the third-party access password and verify the company folder used by the existing XLGL connection.

Reset the password and reconnect

Step 1: Open the affected company in Sage 50 US.

Step 2: Select Maintain > Users > Set Up User Security. Open Third Party Access, also called Data Access, Crystal Reports in some versions.

Step 3: Clear the existing password for the Peachtree third-party login, then set it again. Under access from outside Sage 50, select With the following login information and use Change to enter and confirm the password. Click OK, then Save and close. For the connection setup, follow Connecting to a Sage 50 US edition company with Logicim XLGL.

Step 4: In Excel, open the Logicim XLGL ribbon and click Connect. Check the company file path for the affected connection. In Sage 50, Open an Existing Company shows the company folder path. Make sure XLGL uses that same folder; use Browse to select it if needed.

Step 5: In the Connect panel, enter the password you just set for Peachtree and click Connect. The Peachtree user name is fixed and cannot be changed.

Step 6: Once the connection is established, refresh your Report again.

Verify the result

The connection indicator changes from red to yellow, then green when connected. Confirm that the Report refreshes without the previous error and uses the intended Sage company.

If the issue remains

Send the full error screenshot or exact error text, your Sage 50 US version, and your XLGL version to Logicim Support. Do not include passwords in your message.
