Sales Journal

The Sales Journal Ready-to-Use Report shows sales journal entries for a selected period in a journal-style output that includes invoice or credit memo numbers, accounts, line descriptions, and debit and credit amounts.

Prerequisites

  1. Latest Logicim XLGL version.

What the Report Does

The Report uses the Instructions worksheet to set start and end dates, then displays the selected period on the Report worksheet. The visible output includes the company name, Sales Journal Report title, period line, and columns for Date, Invoice/CM Number, Account ID, Account Description, Line Description, Debit, and Credit. The workbook also contains a hidden Data worksheet with sales transaction fields, including invoice number, date, customer ID, sales tax code, due date, discount date, ship-to fields, item ID, account ID, row type, amount, quantity, unit cost, and cost.

Customization Options

Use the Start and End date inputs on the Instructions worksheet to change the reporting period. You can also use standard Excel formatting, filters, and layout adjustments on a copy of the workbook. For structural changes to the Report, use the customization link on the Instructions worksheet or request a Custom Report from Logicim.

Common Use Cases

  1. Review sales journal entries for a selected accounting period.
  2. Trace invoice and credit memo activity by account and line description.
  3. Compare debit and credit postings for sales tax, accounts receivable, inventory, sales, and cost of sales lines.
  4. Support period-end review by confirming that the Report period matches the dates entered on Instructions.

Troubleshooting

  1. If the period in the Report is not what you expected, check the Start and End date cells in the Instructions and refresh the Report.
  2. If the Report shows stale or unexpected values, confirm that Excel is connected to the correct Sage 50 US company through Logicim XLGL, then refresh again.
  3. If sales journal rows are missing, confirm that the selected date range includes the transactions you expect to review.
  4. If you need different columns, grouping, or calculations, request a Custom Report rather than editing the workbook’s formulas.
